Keynote Speaker: Herman Yee

Herman Yee graduated with a BS in ChE from Wayne State and an MS from Caltech and a PhD from the University of Rochester, all in chemical engineering.

He joined the DuPont Company in 1989 where he has held positions in Research and Development responsible for product development in industries including Printing and Publishing and, since 1997, Automotive Coatings.

Dr. Yee is currently Technology Manager for Automotive Coatings at DuPont's Mt. Clemens Laboratory.

Abstract

Waterborne Coatings for the Automotive Industry

The basics of modern, multi-layer automotive coatings is reviewed with emphasis on water-based formulations. Performance requirements and typical defects and failure modes are discussed. Finally, a brief overview of future trends in the North American market is given.
